Tomorrow the grade fours and fives in Margaret Jenkins School will get a chance to experience what it’s like to vote in a Federal Election! Using real voting booths and ballots supplied by Elections Canada, students will confidentially vote and then find out the results!

The homework tonight is for the students to consider what they think the issues should be in this election, and to find out about each candidate in the Victoria riding (since that is where our school is located).  They have been asked to write a 1/2 page essay on what they think the issues are, who they would vote for and why.  Writing this will prepare them for the debates we will have in class tomorrow before the voting session (Note: for reasons of confidentiality I will not collect, read or mark these essays – just confirm that they have been done.)

Here’s the links to the four parties (arranged alphabetically by the candidate’s last name). To find out more about each candidate and their party, click a name:

Christopher Causton – Liberal Party
Jared Giesbrecht – Green Party
Patrick Hunt – Conservative Party
Denise Savoie – New Democratic Party
