Claymations by kids…

…coming soon to this blog!

Over the past few weeks, working in teams, our grade five students have worked to make original claymation movies. The teams created characters, wrote little stories for them, and sketched storyboards. They then formed hand-molded figures, props and sets from plasticine. Using stop motion techniques, the teams photographed their clay pieces with a digital still camera. After importing the camera images into iMovie, they animated and edited their claymations. Finally, voices and sound effects were added. What a great way to practice the art of visual storytelling (as well as creative collaboration)!

These playful short, movies will soon be ready for prime time (well, almost prime time). Stay tuned!
