Before the New Year, over the course of a week, the class enjoyed watching Ingmar Bergman’s version of Mozart’s “Magic Flute“. Now we have a chance to enjoy the real thing! But we only have until Monday to buy tickets!!
Here’s an excerpt from the recent school newsletter written by our music teacher Ms. Paulley. Because Friday was a Pro-D day, the deadline to purchase tickets has been extended to Monday, January 28th. This is the absolute deadline as she will be purchasing the tickets after school on Monday.
Wouldn’t it make for a fun evening if a number of our students arranged to go to this voluntary activity together?
The excerpt follows…
“A Night at the Opera!
I would like to take a group of interested intermediate students (grade 3 to 5) to Pacific Opera Victoria’s Student Dress Rehearsal of the opera ‘Albert Herring’ on Tuesday, February 5th. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience live, professional opera. Albert Herring is a great starter opera as it’s a comedy in English that was written in the 20th century! I may need some parent volunteers to make this happen as the opera company requires one adult chaperone for every 10 students attending.
The information is as follows:
· Ticket Price – $10 for students and $15 for adults.
· Where and When – bring your child to the Royal Theatre by 6:40 pm for the 7:00 pm show, as well as pick up their child by approximately 9:45 pm.
· Payment Information – If you would like your child to attend, please drop off ticket payment to the ÉMJS office by January 28. If you would also like to chaperone please submit your name to the office and once we know how many students are attending we will let you know if you will be needed as a chaperone. (We are only allowed to take one adult per 10 students.)
I am looking forward to sharing the joy of opera with your child!
Ms. Kim Paulley, ÉMJS Music Teacher”
